Foundation & Events

Mission

The David H. Grubbs Memorial Foundation, Inc. facilitates medical care and caretaking of children in need of medical assistance through the planning, organizing and administering of fundraising activities. Proceeds from all Foundation events go to help improve the quality of life of disadvantaged or sick children. Established in memory of David, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend.

Golf

David had a passion for golf and greatly enjoyed the sport. Since his death in 2003, the Grubbs family and friends have hosted a golf tournament in his memory. Proceeds from the golf tournament support the giving efforts of his foundation and touch the lives of children in need of care.

Socializing

David thoroughly appreciated socializing with family and friends. To highlight David’s love for life, laughter and friendship,  the Grubbs will host a “night out” benefit.

About David

David, Ephraim’s brother, was eleven months younger and the baby of 3 children.  When David was 14, he was diagnosed with Lupus which eventually attacked his kidneys.  After enduring dialysis, he underwent a kidney transplant with his mother.  That kidney failed after 7 years and David went  back on the transplant list and dialysis for several years.  In 1996, he and his sister underwent a second successful transplant that lasted close to 6 years.  David was back on dialysis and working with Ephraim while going through the process to undergo another transplant when he died unexpectedly from heart failure on April 23, 2003.

David was 34 years old at the time of his death.  While he had been sick for more than half of his life, he lived life to its fullest, never complaining and never leading on that anything in his world was ever wrong.
